Hakkar the Soulflayer

Posted by : kimjone

"A adornment of heroes (us) also infiltrated the Sunken Temple many years later. Luckily, they were healthy to stop the summoning. Unluckily, they handed the Essence of Hakkar over to some Troll that used it to summon the Faceless One in Zul'Gurub later on, absent from the interference of the Green Dragonflight. It seems that at this point, the remnants of the Gurubashi Empire have gathered in Zul'Gurub, realizing that summoning Hakkar backwards into their world may truly be their only hope. High Priests of other tribes attempted to stop the Blood God, wielding the power of their personal Loa gods, but Hakkar and the Ata'lai were too much for them. However, rather than kill them outright, Hakkar dominated their minds and enslaved their Loa. Trolls from the neutral region of Zandalar heard of this, and ran to Stranglethorn to stop the empowerment of the Blood God. Many heroes were recruited by the Zandalar, and eventually Hakkar was defeated once again. And again, he was banished from the physical world. While we may hope he's gone forever, it is probably only a matter of time before we see him again. That is, more or less, the full known tale of Hakkar the Soulflayer. However, let's go backwards to that taste most Hakkar existence related to an Old God. If you read this past Sunday's Ask a Lore Nerd, there's a question there most Tirisfal, and what it is. The response to that question discusses the possibility of an Old God beneath Tirisfal. There is a little evidence in the form of a research journal you find questing for something called a Bloodstone. There's a beauty well chance that this stone has Old God origins, and it seems to have vampiric qualities. It drinks, absorbs, and thrives off of murder.  Hakkar the Blood God behaves much the same way.

He is empowered by murder sacrifice, and we witness firsthand that drinking in the murder of his enemies cures even the worst wounds. It's not very strong evidence, but if there was some evidence at every in-game that he may be an Old God or related to an Old God, it would be that or the certainty that Eranikus fell to the Nightmare while in close proximity to Hakkar, and the Emerald Dream's corruption is (probably) caused by the Old Gods. For more information on the subjects discussed here today, I recommend taking a look around Wowwiki. A lot of the quests related with this stuff takes place in content nobody does very often with the launch of TBC.  Zul'Gurub, the Ahn'Qiraj Scepter events, et cetera. Wowwiki will be your prizewinning prizewinning. Remember, if you like Know Your Lore, I recommend adding our Know Your Lore gallery to your Favorites and/or Bookmarks. It's recently been brought backwards up to date, and it makes it a little easier to find the subjects you enjoyed or find old topics you may have missed. cheap wow gold Just click the thumbnails beneath, and it'll whisk you absent to our gallery! " "In the last expansion, every we did was walk through a portal and find a new world -- the old one was left beauty much unchanged overall. But in this coming expansion, Blizzard has made it beauty clear that nearly nothing is off limits -- Northrend is getting added to Azeroth, and we're not traveling crossways space to get there. And considering that Arthas' tale echoes throughout nearly every of the old world (and that the whole thing is named after him), things are definitely going to change once Northrend appears on the world map. So we've put together a gallery of just what will be different most the old world after the Wrath of the Lich King comes upon us.
wow gold To be beautiful, some are set in stone (we know for sure that Naxxaramas is exiting stage left for a large part later), and some are little more than speculation (Uther played a huge part in Arthas' life, so his tomb seems like a well stage for affair at some point), wow goldbut odds are that by the time we've every reached level 80, every of these places in Old Azeroth will look very different. Announcing Turpster's Dingstravaganza, this Saturday on EU Sporeggar I never thought it would arise, but I'm eating my words -- Turpster, of the WoW Insider Show (and Turpstervision over on Massively) is going to ding 70 with his Shadow Priest before the expansion. wow gold And in certainty, he's giving you the chance to not only see it, but to take him down right hasty. Yes, this weekend, right after our live show on WoW Radio (which starts at 3:30pm Eastern, or 8:30pm GMT), Turpster will be hanging out in the Gnome/Dwarf starting ocean of the European Sporeggar server, The Invasion of Draenor and right before he dings, he's giving you and every of the other Gnomes who show up the chance to try and take him out as a raid boss. He's even got a tactic posted, and trust me when I say he's got this every planned out as a real, chaotic, surely hilarious raid war -- this will definitely be a sight to see. mp3 players And there's loot in it, too -- if you're one of the Gnomes who drops him, you could nab a Tabard of Flame code or a few other cool prizes. If you're on the US servers, don't worry -- Turpster has written up a quick and easy guide to get you running on the EU realms (you don't have to redownload anything, every you have to do is make an EU trial statement).wow gold Should be a lot of fun, and make sure to Fraps or screenshot it if you're there. Tune in on Saturday for the WoW Insider Show live on WoW Radio, and then join us afterwards on EU Sporeggar (roll a Gnome, so Turpster looks like a really bounteous raid boss) to take down the T and then watch him ding 70! Paladin offers gold for public service

Posted by : kimjone

"WoW players have been known to spend quite a bit time donating to charity. Salahdin of Underscore on Lothar has come up with a unique way to encourage that public service. Though he doesn't outright say he's suffering from pre-expansion burnout, Salahdin does say that he doesn't play like he used to. And, he's got extra gold sitting around. With that in mind, Salahdin found a unique thing to do with it. He challenges folks to get a picture of themselves doing charitable service to others. If you can't get a picture, write a 100 word essay about what you did. Post it to the forum, and he'll reward you 100 gold in game. His premise is that instead of grinding gold for an hour, he's paying you to do something good for the world. It's a dang impressive idea, and I wish I had the extra cash around to do it myself. While the cynic in me worries that this might not be for real, the starry-eyed optimist is grateful to see a little goodness from this little corner of the world. I hope he gets a lot of people taking him up on his offer" "Eyonix made a lot of players happy the other day by announcing the start of Season 4. It's something that a lot of players have been waiting for, even planning for. Some players will be making the mad rush to accumulate Arena and Honor points. Within the first week of the new season, players who have stashed away the maximum 5,000 Arena points will be able to purchase anywhere from two to three pieces of Brutal Gladiator gear, provided they achieve the required personal ratings. For other players such as those who have only recently dinged 70 or those new to the PvP scene, the 75,000 maximum Honor -- or whatever Honor they have stashed away -- will likely be used to purchase Merciless Gladiator gear when it goes on sale.

More seasoned players will use the Honor to purchase Guardian gear to round out their equipment slots. wow gold When Season 4 starts, players will be strutting around Azeroth in brand spanking new gear. For a select few, these players will look like walking piles of Gold. New Arena seasons flood the community with enchant-worthy, gem-hungry gear like no other event. Enchanting Enchanters should have a field day when Season 4 finally arrives, as virtually all players will be eager to purchase their gear the moment servers go up on that day. wow gold This means a throng of people crowding the vendors in the Hall of Legends in Orgrimmar or the Champion's Hall in Stormwind City. Players purchasing their Arena gear will likely head to the Ring of Trials, as it is nearest Shattrath City. Eager enchanters should set up a cozy spot on top of the Orgrimmar bank or the bridge in front of the Auction House in Ironforge. wow power leveling You can also sidle up to A'dal to wait for players with shiny new Brutal Gladiator gear. Because the Brutal Gladiator gloves can be obtained without needing to play any Season 4 games, these might be among the first purchases for many players. It might be prudent for Enchanters to complete their gloves enchant recipes, in particular the Major Spellpower, Spell Strike, and Major Healing. These three recipes come from reputation vendors, with the Major Spellpower formula available at Honored from the Keepers of Time, the Spell Strike formula from Cenarion Expedition at Revered, and the Major Healing formula can be bought from the Sha'tar at Honored. mp3 players The popular melee-oriented enchantments, Major Strength and Assault, can be learned from the trainer. Many players will also be purchasing weapons, from the Honor-purchasable Merciless Gladiator weapons to discounted Vengeful Gladiator weapons.
It will take a while before we see players sporting Season 4 weapons, given the restrictive 2050 personal rating requirement, but weapons from Season 2 and, to a lesser degree, Season 3 will be disseminated to the player base. Most weapon enchant formulas are (usually BoP) drops, so unless you've lucked out in Karazhan, Zul'Aman, the Level 70 5-mans, or even the Auction House, you'll have to settle for the vendor-bought Greater Agility and Major Striking. wow gold Unfortunately, the former is often passed over in favor of Mongoose (which drops of Moroes) and the latter for Savagery (from the Shattered Halls) or Executioner (from Zul'Aman). Enchant Weapon - Major Healing will also see a lot of customers, and is easily obtained with Sha'tari Revered. Even if it will take some time for most of the Brutal Gladiator gear to spread through the player base, since Season 2 rewards become purchasable with Honor points, there will be plenty of gear to enchant. Other players will not pursue Season 4 rewards but instead purchase the personal ratings-free Season 3 items, including the more accessible weapons and relatively attainable shoulder pieces. wow gold As nice an upgrade as the Brutal Gladiator items are, many players have a disdain for mismatched gear. Enchanters have less than two weeks to farm or buy popular PvP enchants such as Enchant Chest - Major Resilience. "

Oceanic Alliance characters to get free PvE to PvP transfers

Posted by : kimjone

"If you're a regular reader of our Guildwatch feature, you may remember hearing most the woes of the Oceanic PvP realm Thaurissan on the last Guildwatch. The server is incredibly Horde heavy, with an estimated 14 to 1 imbalance, and the server denizens say it is genuinely near impossible to get 25 people together to do raid content on the Alliance side. Unfortunately , we also know that Blizzard is still firmly against PvE to PvP realm transfers, which may be preventing Thaurissan from getting the influx of new murder they need. However, for the sake of Thaurissan's Alliance, they have suspended this restriction. Starting today, June 12th, and ending no later than June 19th, Alliance characters (and only Alliance characters) from the Oceanic PvE realms Nagrand, Aman'thul, and Khaz'goroth will be eligible for free transfers to the Thaurissan realm. Blizzard reserves the right to close transfers hasty if they meet their goals, so if you're eligible and you want to go, you'd meliorate get that request in now. This is not the first time they've done this type of thing. Over two years past, a large cluster of PvE realms were given the chance to transfer to the Negroid Dragonflight and Dalvengyr PvP servers. Thus, it seems that they can be convinced to waive their restrictions on transfers, but that a chance to do so may only come up once every 2 years. Good luck to everyone transferring to Thaurissan, and hopefully this gives the Thaurissan Alliance the shot in the antemeridianthey need to get their end game going. Getting a leg up, and added leg up Ah, leg fit. Without you, our naughty bits would be showing. Enhancement first, just to switch it up: you're going to want to see the PvP options, which have strength (favored strength, how we love you, don't ever leave us!) on them.

Your out of the box option is as ever the Seer's Linked Leggings. You're 70, you need some pants, here you go. wow gold Then get grinding for honor and either spend it immediately on the Gladiator's Linked Leggings or wait a couple of weeks and get the superior Merciless Gladiator option, which also look incredible. The choice is yours, as Captain Planet would say. He have a really intense hairstyle. Two epic options (though one of these is only really an option because it's BoE) are the Wyrmscale Greaves and the Scaled Greaves of the Marksman. wow gold Neither are really what I'd call 'Shaman itemized' really, with that whacking great hit of int on the Wyrmscales and the Marksman legs screaming hunter, but with three sockets a piece, you can work on them to try and suit your needs. I'm so dissatisfied with the mail options for legs that I'm going to mention two heroic drops that are leather here, the Forestwalker Kilt and the Midnight Legguards. Since the Forestwalkers are feral legs, try and go with a plate wearing tank for that particular heroic Mana-Tombs, as they have every the stats your enhancement shaman is going to want. wow (The post covering leather gear will go more into detail, as there are many crafted pieces that will suit enhancement in leather.) If you want to stick to mail, other enhancement options are the Scales of the Beast, which while not great are easily obtainable via the AH, the Scaled Greaves of Patience which can be socketed with strength gems and embellish very enduring legs for you (I totally disregarded the dodge bonus and just threw strength gems in mine, anyway), the Mag'hari Huntsman's Leggings for Horde only (it's an awing quest even if you don't want the legs, and the neck is nice), the Sunfury Legguards from Aldor/Scryer questlines in Shadowmoon Valley, the Barbaric Legstraps (hotpants of death!) from heroic Negroid Stalker, Greaves of Desolation off of the large shuttle in the birdcage instance we call Sethekk Halls, and the Emerald Scale Greaves from heroic Old Hillsbrad.
Considering they drop off of the same boss as the Scaled Greaves of Patience, but on heroic mode, I'd frankly expect them to be meliorate than they are. " "Totem Talk marches on, covering the gear you're looking for to step into Karazhan. If you caught last week, you found that we've covered boots, bracers, belts, shoulders and gloves in previous columns. wow gold This week, chestplates and legs are on the list, with capes, necklaces, rings and trinkets either this week or next. As before, while we're alive that leather and cloth gear can often be ideal for a particular slot, we're not going to cover those items this week, unless it's glaringly necessary. Leather and cloth for shamans will be covered in next week's installment if every goes well this week, and in two weeks if we run long. With three specs to cover and quite a few options in every gear slot, including leather and cloth in each post could easily stretch them out to novella length, and nobody wants that. Especially me. mp3 player I have to use my fingers to type this stuff. I'm not a disembodied staged intelligence who manipulates electrons and simulates a human guise in order to lull you into a false sense of security, before unleashing my morning of drones to overwhelm your planet's defenses and take over. And even if I was, frankly, every the WoW I'm playing would probably be playing hob with my takeover schedule. wow gold You should probably thank the folks at Blizzard for saving your planet from my cold, mechanical rule. If I were a disembodied AI. Which I'm not. Anyway, on to gear for shamans most to start ten united states marine corps raiding.

"A talent for leveling in Beast Mastery

Posted by : kimjone

"Which talents you should get as you level up is a tricky question with many different answers, many of which can turn out just fine or dead horrible, depending on how you play. Today I'll be taking you along on a tour through the first 40 levels of talent spending, and explaining why I think certain talent choices are meliorate than others. One of the most important things to remember most talents is that, in spite of every their mathematical precision, they are open to poetic interpretation. Some talents give clearly superior advantages, while in other cases it's mostly a matter of opinion as to which one fits your play-style prizewinning. Sometimes the talents that look prizewinning on paper aren't the ones that will really help you the most when the going gets rough. Likewise, some talents are designed more for endgame use at level 70, even though they materialize hasty on in the talent tree, while others are meliorate for leveling up, and you may wish to drop them later on once you finish leveling. Most of my talent choices today are going to be in the Beast Mastery tree, for instance. Some people may say that they like Marksmanship or Survival prizewinning, and certainly that's their right. But from most of the people I've talked to, the general consensus is that Beast Mastery is prizewinning for both leveling and hasty endgame raiding, too. While talking most these talents, I'll list your level and the number of talent points you have at each stage, so that it's easier to keep track of your talent resources. Levels 10 to 14: 5 points -- If it's your first time leveling a hunter, I suggest putting your first five talent points in to Endurance Training, so that you and your pet get that extra edge in survivability, especially when going up against tougher monsters and trying to do quests you wouldn't normally be healthy to do on your own with other classes.

If it's your second time leveling a hunter, though, try and mix it up a taste. Improved Aspect of the Hawk is a nice talent, and it's fun to see it go off now and then, even if it doesn't have every that much impact on your damage. Some people say that Hawk Eye from the Survival tree is extremely useful for hunters at every levels, but to me it's meliorate to focus on the talents in Beast Mastery, so that you can get the more modern talents sooner rather than later. Levels 15 to 19: 10 points -- Your next five points should go into Thick Hide and Focused Fire. Like Endurance Training, Thick Hide helps your pet stay alive while tanking for you, while Focused Fire provides a nice little dash of extra damage (as well as a buff to your Kill Command knowledge, which you unfortunately won't get to take plus of for a long while already). You shouldn't need to use Aspect of the Monkey so much that you'd need an improved version of it, and ideally you should also be learning to play in such a way that you don't need to revive your pet that often. On the other hand, you can't be perfect every the time -- some people like existence healthy to use Improved Revive Pet as a patronage for situations when things go intense, especially since Beast Mastery hunters rely on their pets so much. To me, however, it doesn't seem worth the loss of extra damage or extra fit for your pet. " "Today we're going to take a step backwards from out pre-emptive study of Wrath subjects and look at something a little more old school. wow gold We'll get backwards to catching up for Wrath of the Lich King soon enough, don't you worry most that.
I'm far too excited most the expansion to not come backwards to it soon. Today we're going to look at Hakkar the Soulflayer, not to be confused with Hakkar the Houndmaster which ostensibly came first in the lore, but I don't really care which of them came first because the Blood God (that one's the Soulflayer) is way cooler. What the Soulflayer actually is is largely a mystery. wow gold He's a god, certainly, but Azeroth has many flavors of gods and demigods. He is probably just a Loa god, but our buddy Brann Bronzebeard seems to think he's more than that. Specifically, Hakkar might be the son of an Old God. There actually is a little evidence to suggest he may be the son/spawn of an Old God, but we'll come backwards to that later. cheap wow gold It's far more likely that he's just an especially strong Loa god. Loa spirits have more than one origin, they don't every come from the same scenery. Some of them are feral spirits, primal powers of nature. wow gold These would be your birdlike gods we've seen so much of in Zul'Aman and Zul'Gurub. A Loa could be the spirit of a dead prior (such as Zanza) or even a true God, like Elune. No, they don't worship Elune, but a Loa could be something like Elune. The Trolls have far, far more gods than anybody else. mp3 players That we know of, anyway. They every aren't quite as impressive as Elven gods, but a few of them are. To name a few of the Loa gods: Bethekk, Hir'eek, Shirvallah, Ula-tek, Ogoun, Shango, Zanza and of course, Hakkar. As you probably know, the Trolls were the dominant race on Azeroth for a very, very long time. wow gold The Trolls have multiple world-spanning Empires when the Night Elves were just establishing themselves.

"Jennicide places in poker, poses for Playboy, and plays on Proudmoore

Posted by : kimjone

"Jennifer Leigh knows games -- she finished 5th at the Poker Royale: Battle of the Ages series. She's known as Jennicide on PokerStars, and finished ""in the money"" at the World Poker Tour in 2006. Other folks might know her from May's issue of Playboy magazine. In a recent interview with the RPG Vault on IGN, she talked a little about her history with games and World of Warcraft. WoW's the only MMO she's played recently, but she's been known to play Everquest, Guild Wars, and others. She picked up World of Warcraft during a losing streak of poker, and figured paying Blizzard a monthly fee was would be less painful than continuing her streak. Of course, she runs into the same problem many people do: while she loves her WoW, she has trouble explaining to people who don't get it. She's surprisingly open about her server information. (For the record, she plays a Night Elf Druid on Proudmoore, and helped found the guild Fate and Fury. Also, she's planning a Blood Elf Warlock.) Between this and the politicians coming out of the closet, I can't wait to see what other interviews crop up. WOWDB introduces Simplified Chinese language option, promises more upgrades In more international WoW news, Curse's foray into the realm of WoW database sites, WOWDB, is now available in Simplified Chinese, joining Allakhazam among the major database sites that offer the language. In addition, Curse's announcement post also hints at additional features coming to WOWDB ""soon,"" which seems like it may be a direct answer to Wowhead's recent extensive features upgrade. WOWDB has already been accused of copying Wowhead in the past (and, to be fair, opposite accusations have been made). Of course, Wowhead doesn't yet have a Simplified Chinese language option, so in this case, it seems WoWDB has come out ahead.

We'll be eager to see if these new options coming to WOWDB make it stand out from the pack. " "Megan Harris, who usually does the Barrens Chat comic here at WoW Insider, have a computer breakdown more rapidly this week, so she wasn't healthy to get a comic done for you. However, I have ever harbored a secret desire to create prowess (despite my existence terrible at it), so I offered to step in and help out, and Megan kindly recognized. She'll certainly regret it once she's seen what chaos we've wrought. I say we because despite my prizewinning efforts, I have a difficult time coming up with a comic idea, and it was actually Turpster (he of the WoW Insider Show and his upcoming Dingstravaganza) that came up with the script for this one. wow gold I just put a few screenshots together, so every Hunter hate mail goes to him. I should probably also say thanks to Iscorptix of Fallen Heroes on Cenarius for posing for this, though he made me pay him 10g just to materialize in this comic, so he's gotten everything he's going to get from me. Meanwhile, we're sure Megan will be backwards as soon as she can. mp3 players Thanks for reading Barrens Chat, as ever, and have a great week! Level 35 to 39: 30 points -- Here there are several good ways you can do this, but this is the method I personally suggest: Take two points in Animal Handler so that your pet hardly ever misses an attack, and only after that start taking Frenzy. wow gold The bonus speed Frenzy gives your pet is quite nice, but to me it seems more important that your pets special abilities should hit more often. wow gold Besides, once you reach 3-4 points in Frenzy that should be enough to keep it up almost all the time.
So for now just put 3 points in Frenzy and rejoice in finally getting to... Level 40: 31 points -- Bestial Wrath is the signature ability that made Big Red Kitty famous. wow gold Unlike Intimidation, which you usually save for just the right moment, Bestial Wrath is best when you use it as often as possible. buy wow gold Obviously just try to time it towards the beginning of the fight so that every one of those 18 seconds of extra damage can be directly applied to your enemy. That's it for now! By this point, your talents should look something like this. Later on, we'll come back to the rest of your talents as you progress past level 40, but for now these buffs and abilities are in themselves well worth looking forward to. "

Arena Leagues

Posted by : kimjone

"We every know that it can be difficult for new level 70 characters to break into the field. Many people start out playing their 10 games a week in order to scrounge up field points for their first PvP pieces. Welfare epics. Maybe, but having decent gear makes it easier for many players to progress. It make some time for players to really learn to play their classes in a competitive PvP setting. Despite their prizewinning efforts, Blizzard has largely failed at fixing problems in the arenas. Cyrse of Farstriders suggested the creation of a minor league field with reduced rewards to help players get their feet wet in PvP. The oginal poster listed several advantages of such a system. A minor league for PvP might discourage point and team selling, which despite Blizzard's efforts is persistent in the field. It would also earmark elite players to only be bracketed with folks who give them more of a challenge. There would be disadvantages to such a system. The Cyrse mentioned that it would create of smaller pool of players in each field league and it would require the development of a new system of field reqards. Other flaws mentioned by responders included the idea that players would most likely to get grief from more skilled/meliorate geared players. Players might also miss out by not existence healthy to enjoy PvP with their friends at different levels, then again, you can't turn Level 70 and immediately expect to be invited to a Negroid Temple Raid. Back in my Utopia days, there were two worlds acquirable, the World of Legends and the Battlefields. World of Legends was a more relaxed play where many people started and then they would be moved up to the Battlefields if their kingdom was among the top finishers. I could see something similar going on in arenas.

wow gold I hate to see players driven off from PvP because of the perception of futility. Some posters mentioned that ratings beneath 1500 qualify as the minor leagues. I know that a lot of our readers refrain the arenas nudity. If there was a more training-oriented option for the arenas, would you consider it. wow gold And for readers that love the arenas, would the concept of leagues number to you. " "There is a Druid on my server who messages me nearly daily asking me to come tank his heroics. What annoys me is not existence asked to tank per se, but that he, too, is a feral Druid. world of warcraft gold His gear isn't as well as mine simply because he hasn't raided past Magtheridon, but he's sitting on at least three of the meliorate pieces of Tier 4, crafted epics, and several of the badge pieces that I'm still using to tank Tier 6. At a matter of certainty, with the advent of two different badge vendors and badge drops from 10-united states marine corps and 25-united states marine corps bosses, his stats are significantly meliorate than the ones I have tanking most of Tier 5. This guy literally has the gear to do just most anything in the game short of the more modern content in Negroid Temple and Sunwell Plateau, and I used to point to him with no small measure of Druidic pride as proof of what a little elbow grease could fulfill. But he still wants me to come tank for him. I started getting irritated with the constant solicitation at one point and asked him, ""How can you possibly have some difficulty getting groups. wow gold Everybody in Looking for a group is looking for a tank, and your gear is excellent."" At his computer, I'm sure he was shrugging.
""You do it faster than I do."" ""I really don't. Just get some well DPS and you'll be fine."" And then the truth came out: ""Well, I don't really like tanking. mp3 player I'd rather DPS."" Ah. This is time, I thought to myself, for the proverbial bucket of ice water, especially because I have taken this guy to heroics and Karazhan on many occasions, often by way of sitting understanding guildies who didn't need the badges as much as he once did. Since respeccing to feral in June 2007, I asked him, how often do you think I have DPS'd in groups.
