A 15 year-old in the U.K. was taken to hospital with heart palpitations after drinking eight cans of Red Bull.

Eight cans of Red Bull contains 640mg of caffeine but one can contains 1000mg of Taurine, 60mg Glucuronolactone, and 27 grams of sugar. The overdosing teenager consumed 216 grams of sugar (or 54 teaspoons) along with 8 grams of Taurine. He was taken to the hospital with heart problems.

    Health experts have reminded people of the risks associated with drinking large amounts of caffeine after the 15 year old suffered heart palpitations. They took the boy to the accident and emergency department of a local hospital and he was transferred to a ward. The boy had a known history of heart problems.

    Each can of Red Bull contains 80mg of caffeine which is nearly twice that of a can of Coca Cola. The drink is banned in Norway, France, Uruguay and Iceland because of its high caffeine content. It also contains taurine, which is said to alleviate muscle fatigue.
